General Overview

The Expansion Relay Card is designed to provide additional relay capabilities for both the Four Channel Control Card and the Hex Relay Interface Card. When connected to the Hex Relay Interface Card, the Expansion Relay Card adds 12 extra relays to the system: eight relays are single-pole change-over (SPCO), and four are single-pole single-throw (SPST). These relays can be configured for fire, fault, or inhibit alarms, as well as individual or master outputs.

Installation and Configuration

When the Expansion Relay Card is connected to the Hex Relay Interface Card, the combination of these two cards occupies two slots within the rack. Consequently, a blank panel or a Fire Status Panel must be installed on the front panel of the rack adjacent to the corresponding Four Channel Control Card.

Earth Loop Prevention	If a detector is locally earthed via an Earth Stud, casing, or mounting, ensure that the screen sheath of the cable is only connected at one end to avoid earth loops.
Detector Connections	The diagram for Channel 1 connections is provided in the installation manual. Channels 2, 3, and 4 have similar connections with specific pin numbers listed.
Earth Leakage Considerations	Earth leakage detection should not be used with single or dual barriers as the 0V is connected to IS ground. If required, use an isolating barrier with a specification of 28V, 300-ohm Shunt Barrier with a 50mA minimum current capacity.
